From 241 participants representing 14 nations in the debut of the first Olympic Games in 1896, the Olympic Games are considered to be the world's foremost sports competition today, with more than 10,500 athletes competing from 204 countries. African nations, though not dominant in all the sports disciplines, have always been a huge part of the Games and some nations like Kenya, Ethiopia and South Africa have quite an impressive resume, with counts of Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.
